The product

What is Compass & Cove? Who is Cove?

Compass & Cove is an independent AI company in Aitkin, Minnesota. Cove is our intelligence system: a grounded, verified, low-hallucination assistant you talk to in your browser. She is designed to cite, verify, or say when she does not know.

How is Cove different from other AI chat tools?

Most AI generates the most plausible-sounding words and presents them with uniform confidence. Cove verifies before answering: claims are cross-checked across independent sources, math is computed, and logic is proven step by step. When verification fails, she says so instead of guessing.

What does "grounded" mean?

A grounded answer is built from checkable sources, computation, or step-by-step proof — not from free-form generation. Cove labels her answers so you can see how each one was verified, how many sources agreed, and how confident she is. You can audit instead of just trusting.

Does Cove ever say "I don't know"?

Yes — on purpose. When she can't verify something, the honest answer is: "I can't verify that, so I won't guess." For questions at the edge of human knowledge, she tells you the real state of research instead of inventing an answer. We consider an honest gap a feature, not a failure.

Does Cove never hallucinate, then?

No AI can honestly claim "never." What we claim — and engineer for — is low-hallucination: verification gates sit between generation and you, unverified claims get blocked or labeled, and famous myths get flagged FALSE with sources. If you catch a wrong answer, report it; corrections feed back into the system.

Security & privacy

Is my data safe?

Your conversations are processed on hardware we own and operate ourselves. We don't send your prompts to third-party AI companies, and there are no borrowed model weights in the answering path. Traffic between your browser and our servers is encrypted via TLS (HTTPS), and account credentials are stored hashed.

Do you train on my conversations?

No. Your conversations are yours. Cove's knowledge grows through curated, verified ingestion — not by mining your private chats. If you explicitly report a message as wrong, that specific message is reviewed to improve quality.

Is Cove built on OpenAI, Google, or another big-tech model?

No. Cove runs on our own systems with no borrowed model weights. Your questions are not relayed to any external AI provider.

Who built this?

Compass & Cove was built by Mark Brush in Aitkin, Minnesota — independently, on his own hardware. It started as an experiment in building AI that verifies instead of guessing, and grew into the system you're talking to.
